I'm glad TeachThought came up with another month of blog prompts because I haven't done one since September. I keep saying I am going to, but it is just so much easier when there is a prompt. I am going to combine November 1st and 2nd's prompts into one blog since I didn't get to write yesterday and they are pretty short.

November 1: What are the best aspects of being a teacher? One good part of the profession is the schedule. We have summers off and long breaks around the holidays, so there is a lot of time to spend with friends and family and refresh. We work hard and have a lot of stressors, just like many other jobs, but we have time built into our schedule to unwind when we need it. The best part of being a teacher is knowing that when we succeed and do our job well, the product really matters. When a kid really learns your subject you can see the results and know that kid is more prepared for his/her future. Many jobs see very concrete results, but they are financially based. I think our results mean more than that.

November 2: What is one small delight in the day that you always look forward to? I look forward to laughing during class. There is at least one time every day that some students and I laugh really hard about something. Whether it's about me, them, or something else, we get a good laugh and it makes the day more enjoyable. I laugh a lot with the staff too, but the high school kids I teach usually make me laugh way more because I never know what the hell they're going to say.
